African Mahogany

Our FAS grade African Mahogany comes from the Khaya genus and is considered to be a valid substitute for Honduran Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla), otherwise known as “Genuine Mahogany.” The wood is usually light pinkish-brown when freshly cut, darkening on exposure to a deep reddish colour, often with a purple cast. The texture is variable, often moderately coarse, with a high, golden lustre. Typical uses include furniture, cabinet making, interior millwork for banks, offices, and shops, as well as boat building.
