Custom ran Ipe flooring accompanied by Sipo Mahogany millwork all custom designed and manufactured here at Mason's Mill. This project sports a warm rich feeling while creating an open concept vibe in a rather small space. The mahogany baseboard pairs nicely with the Ipe flooring and at first glance you would even think they were different species, much less that they are harvested from two different continents. Sipo Mahogany derives from Africa and is worldly renown for its excellent woodworking properties as well as its durable nature when exposed to the elements. Ipe (Tabebuia spp.) is an extremely dense, durable and beautiful tropical hardwood from South America. The highest quality and most consistent Ipe is harvested in Brazil. Ipe is the premier wood for outdoor decks and other exterior projects, and has been used for decades on large commercial projects including the Discovery Green Conservancy and many others. To help tie these two exotic imports the designer chose to in-lay the Mahogany handrail with small Ipe details, a subtle detail for a bold statement.
