Ipe (Tabebuia spp.) is an extremely dense, durable and beautiful tropical hardwood from South America. The highest quality and most consistent Ipe is harvested in Brazil. Ipe is the premier wood for outdoor decks and other exterior projects, and has been used for decades on large commercial projects including the Discovery Green Conservancy and many others. Ipe has become the predominant specie used for residential decks as well when the most attractive and durable wood is desired. Ipe carries the highest rating available from the US Forest Products Laboratory against rot, and is not affected my mold, fungus or termites. It has twice the density as Oak and carries a 40+ year warranty against rot or decay.
Mason’s Mill & Lumber is a direct importer of Ipe decking and stocks large inventories at our Houston warehouse. We stock only the best grade of Ipe, ensuring a deck free of sapwood and other blemishes and defects. Our Ipe is 100% heartwood and free of defects. Mason’s stocks standard decking sizes, as well as sundry sizes for benches, rails and steps.
Ipe Decking is an air dried product in decking form, and we stock kiln dried Ipe lumber that can be used for interior projects as well. We can produce custom flooring and millwork to your specification in Ipe, as well as many other species.
Ipe is a vastly superior decking product compared to treated pine or composite decking products in both performance and appearance, and is 100% natural without any harsh chemicals or preservative treatments that can be harmful. Our suppliers are committed to sustained forestry and responsible stewardship of the forests and participate in reforestation projects on an ongoing basis.
