The Craftsman and Arts & Crafts movement reshaped American homes from roughly 1900 to 1930, rejecting Victorian ornament in favor of honest joinery, exposed structure, and quiet horizontal lines. Craftsman moulding is restrained and rectilinear — flat-stock casings with simple back-band trim, wide picture rails, plate rails, deep door headers, and beam-style ceiling trim meant to be read clearly from across the room. Offered in prime and FAS grade, our walnut, also known as “black American walnut”, comes out of Indiana. Walnut is a beautiful, tough, hard timber with a medium density. Walnut is the standard timber for rifle butts and gun stocks.
It is extensively used for high-quality furniture, cabinet making and interior trim, boat building, musical instruments and clock cases.
