Located at 733 W 24th St in Houston’s vibrant Heights neighborhood, Simply Coffie is a striking example of how thoughtful design can elevate everyday experiences. From its expressive exterior presence to its warm, inviting interiors, this specialty coffee shop blends modern architecture with rich, natural materials.
The project was designed by Trung Doan of STUDIO RED Architects, whose team brought a modern yet grounded architectural vision to life — balancing clean lines, generous glazing, and natural materials to create a calm, cohesive environment.
"Mason’s Mill & Lumber was a trusted partner throughout both the design and construction phases. The THEMORY product brought the natural texture and depth we were hoping to achieve, giving the project a warmth that feels real and grounded. What we appreciated most was the consistency of the material—its precise milling and finishing allowed us to carry the same wood from exterior to interior without noticeable shifts in color. That continuity helped us maintain a cohesive vision and made the transition between spaces feel effortless and intentional."

Thermal modification uses heat and steam — not chemicals — to enhance the wood’s performance. This makes Thermory Ash ideal for both interior and exterior applications where humidity and weather variation are considerations.
Inside the café, Thermory Ash brings warmth and texture to ceilings and walls, softening large glass surfaces and tall volumes while adding visual depth. The natural grain and warm tone give the space an inviting quality that complements the minimalist layout.
On the exterior, the same material wraps soffits and façade elements, creating continuity between outside and inside. The result is a unified architectural language where material choice reinforces both aesthetics and performance.
