In addition to stocking red oak and white oak treads in numerous dimensions, Mason’s Mill & Lumber can produce custom stair treads out of many wood species, and to any size or dimension needed. Commonly utilized species include walnut, rift and quartered oak, pecan, hickory, Brazilian cherry and mahogany. We can produce custom treads to match exotic flooring species for any flooring project.
Quarter sawn refers to the visual characteristics of the face of each board. The lumber is quarter sawn for the best grain rather than the highest grade. Our quartered white oak is an S&B grade out of the Appalachian mountains.
Rift white oak is a hard and heavy wood typically used for flooring, furniture, cabinet making, interior trim work, paneling, cooperage for wine and whiskey, and shingles.
