Classical details are the ornamental moulding elements that aren’t tied to a single era — dentil blocks, egg-and-dart, bead-and-reel, acanthus leaves, rope twist, and the carved enrichments that finish a high-end classical room. These profiles work across Greek Revival, Federal, Georgian, and Colonial Revival millwork programs, layered into crowns, cornices, mantels, and door surrounds as accent runs. Mason’s Mill carries 46 classical detail profiles meant to be combined with our plainer crowns and casings to build up the full layered look of a formal classical interior. They’re the difference between competent restoration trim and authentic period millwork.
This pecky cypress from Louisiana gets it's characteristic look from a condition caused by a fungal attack that causes long, narrow burrows or cavities in the wood. The fungus primarily attacks older cypress trees from the “canopy” or “umbrella” down. Once the tree is cut down, or harvested, the fungal attack stops, leaving the beautiful, unique pecky patterns.

In rustic or knotty grades of lumber, there will be a percentage of degrade during the milling process. Some knots may shake lose and/or fall out during the milling process. Mason’s Mill is not liable for these defects in moldings produced from knotty grades of lumber.
Pecky Cypress will lack consistency in the amount of “peck” throughout the piece as well as from piece to piece. Pecky Cypress is characteristically brittle. Some splitting in millwork and S4S should be expected and accounted for.
No returns will be accepted on any custom-milled Pecky Cypress products including S2S, S3S, S4S and molding millwork.
